A Multi-Agent Framework for Testing 3-Tier Distributed Systems Architecture

چکیده
Lack of time and capital for software testing is an oft encountered problem in most organizations. The plethora of possible test cases for each software component makes software testing a very expensive and time consuming activity and can, in extreme cases, account for up to 50% of the total cost of the software development process. The advent of distributed systems has augmented the complexity of the testing process and has made it an even more daunting task than before. This paper presents an innovative multi-agent framework to ease some of the burdens associated with the testing of generic distributed systems. The architecture of the proposed MAS (Multi-Agent System) is presented along with detailed descriptions of the various models arrived at following the analysis and design phases of the proposed system. The proposed framework is considered as a step towards the automation of the testing process for distributed systems in order to enhance their reliability within an acceptable range of cost and time.

متن کاملMulti-Tier Communication Abstractions for Distributed Mult-Agent Systems
Most Multi-Agent System (MAS) architectures use a single communication model for sharing of data, propagation of tasking, and negotiation for services. We describe the Cougaar distributed multi-tiered MAS infrastructure which uses different communication techniques at each tier to gain large-scale parallelization, scalability and asynchronous operation without sacrificing the ability to support...

This paper briefly traces the evolution of information system architectures from mainframe-connected terminals to distributed multi-tier architectures. It presents the challenges facing developers of multi-tier information systems in providing effective consistent data policy enforcement, such as access control in these architectures. Finally, it introduces ‘‘Mobile Policy’’ (MoP) as a potentia...
متن کاملMulti-agent Systems Development as a Software Engineering Enterprise
Multi-Agent Systems provide an ideal level of abstraction for modelling complex applications where distributed and heterogeneous entities need to cooperate to achieve a common goal, or to concur for the control of shared resources. This paper proposes a declarative framework for developing multi-agent systems. A formal approach based on Logic Programming is proposed for the speciication, implem...
متن کاملMulti-Tier Agent-Based Architecture For Web Information Retrieval
The rapid growth of the network-centered (Internet and Intranet) computing environments requires new architectures for information retrieval systems. Typically, in these environments, the information resources are dynamic, heterogeneous and distributed. In addition, these computing environments are open, where information resources may be connected or disconnected at any time. This paper presen...
